چکیده

Streptomyces sp. produces bioactive compounds with a broad spectrum of activities. Streptomyces kebangsaanesis SUK12 has been identified as a novel endophytic bacteria isolated from ethnomedicinal plant Portulaca olerace, and was found to produce the phenazine class of biologically active antimicrobial metabolites. The potential use of the phenazines has led to our research interest in determining the genome sequence of Streptomyces kebangsaanensis SUK12. This Whole Genome Shotgun project has been deposited at DDBJ/ENA/GenBank under the accession number PRJNA269542. The raw sequence data are available [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Traces/study/?acc=SRP105770].

Genomic characterization of a new endophytic Streptomyces kebangsaanensis identifies biosynthetic pathway gene clusters for novel phenazine antibiotic production

Background Streptomyces are well known for their capability to produce many bioactive secondary metabolites with medical and industrial importance. Here we report a novel bioactive phenazine compound, 6-((2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenoxy) carbonyl) phenazine-1-carboxylic acid (HCPCA) extracted from Streptomyces kebangsaanensis, an endophyte isolated from the ethnomedicinal Portulaca oleracea. Metho...

Streptomyces kebangsaanensis sp. nov., an endophytic actinomycete isolated from an ethnomedicinal plant, which produces phenazine-1-carboxylic acid.

A spore-forming streptomycete designated strain SUK12(T) was isolated from a Malaysian ethnomedicinal plant. Its taxonomic position, established using a polyphasic approach, indicates that it is a novel species of the genus Streptomyces. Morphological and chemical characteristics of the strain were consistent with those of members of the genus Streptomyces. Analysis of the almost complete 16S r...

Whole-Genome Shotgun Sequence of Bacillus mojavensis Strain RRC101, an Endophytic Bacterium Antagonistic to the Mycotoxigenic Endophytic Fungus Fusarium verticillioides

Here, we report the whole-genome shotgun sequence of Bacillus mojavensis strain RRC101, isolated from a maize kernel. This strain is antagonistic to the mycotoxigenic plant pathogen Fusarium verticillioides and grows within maize tissue, suggesting potential as an endophytic biocontrol agent.

Draft Genome Sequence of Streptomyces sp. JHA26, a Strain That Harbors a PA14 Domain Containing β-d-Galactofuranosidase

The genome sequence of Streptomyces sp. strain JHA26, the culture supernatant of which exhibited β-d-galactofuranosidase (Galf-ase) activity, was analyzed to search for a Galf-ase-encoding gene. We report here the results of whole-genome shotgun sequencing and reveal the identity of a new Galf-ase gene.

Draft Genome Sequence of Streptomyces sp. JHA19, a Strain That Possesses β-d-Galactofuranosidase Activity

By screening for microbes that exhibit β-d-galactofuranosidase (Galf-ase) activity, a Streptomyces sp. strain, named JHA19, was isolated from a soil sample from Kagawa University, Japan, in 2010. Here, we report the results of whole-genome shotgun sequencing and found that the strain has four predicted Galf-ase genes.
